gedum
Gedum explores the ways forms occupy space and interact with both body and environment. The work takes the form of a paper scroll, unrolled in the woods and shot with a shotgun, allowing holes to punctuate the surface while the shadows of the trees created their own marks. In this way, natural forces and human intervention intersect to produce a form of drawing within the landscape. Its verticality emerges as the paper interacts with the environment, guiding perception upward and engaging the viewer in relation to scale and posture. Composed of multiple discrete components, the work balances autonomy and connection, with fragmented marks and interruptions emphasising provisional relationships and relational tensions. Through material interplay and the careful arrangement of wood, metal, and cast elements, Gedum transforms these materials into a provisional, alchemical equilibrium, where time, place, and process combine to record a moment of relational encounter, reflecting both physical and historical resonance.
